iTablet based on iPhone OS … “it’s going to be just terrific!”
Ooops! … During an interview on CNBC today, McGraw-Hill’s CEO likely violated an NDA with Apple by spilling the beans on the iTablet (name TBA) before tomorrow’s big unveiling. When asked about rumors that McGraw-Hill might be partnering with Apple on the iTablet, Terry MrGraw responds (2:50):
Yeah, Very exciting. Yes, they’ll make their announcement tomorrow on this one. We have worked with Apple for quite a while. And the Tablet is going to be based on the iPhone operating system and so it will be transferable. So what you are going to be able to do now is we have a consortium of e-books. And we have 95% of all our materials that are in e-book format. So now with the tablet you’re going to open up the higher education market, the professional market. The tablet is going to be just really terrific.
Interesting stuff from McGraw-Hill CEO … but just a mite premature. I suspect this was a case where everyone at McGraw-Hill who had knowledge of the iTablet heard a stern warning and had to sign a strict non-disclosure agreement (NDA) …. everyone of course except the CEO. The McGraw-Hill Legal Dept. must be exchanging pleasantries right now … “Who told Terry? Did he sign the NDA? No? Why not? Cause he’s the friggin CEO, that’s why! Who’s gonna tell him that Apple could void our deal now? They aren’t going to void the e-books deal! Yes, but they could!”
