It is said that Apple and Telkomsel are proudly to announce the iPhone 3G in Indonesia officially on March 20. The event will be held at 8 PM at Pacific Place Jakarta. Update – March 10, 2008: The latest buzz from Indonesia is that an event will be staged on March 21 to announce the availability of iPhone in Indonesia through Telkomsel. The report states that iPhone will go on sale March 23, 2009. More via Asia’s Mobile News
Asia’s Mobile News has some insights into iPhone in Indonesia pricing and carrier subsidy. The projected launch date via Telkomsel is end of February or early March. Telkomsel is a state-owned company, with 35 percent of its stake owned by Singapore giant SingTel.
Telkomsel iPhone pricing scheme clues:
- There will be IDR 100,000 “pulsa” (carrier subsidy)
- The payment by credit card only
- The minimum down payment is 50% of total price
- The balance can be paid monthly over the next 12 months
